Delta launches new non-stop flight between Dublin and Boston

Delta adds the Dublin-Boston route to its non-stop services: the Boston flight will be running from 26th May 2017 throughout the summer and will be operated in conjunction with joint venture partners Air France and KLM.

The world’s most – and least – punctual airlines have been revealed

Flight data provider FlightStats recently announced its eighth annual On-time Performance Service Awards winners. The awards recognize airlines that deliver the highest percentage of flights to their arrival gates within 15 minutes of the scheduled arrival time. Dutch airline KLM scooped the top spot, with 88.53 per cent of its flights arriving on schedule. British airlines are nowhere to be seen in the top 10 list, which is dominated by companies based in Asia and mainland Europe. Alaska Airlines flights arrived on-time 87 percent of the time in 2016, earning the airline top honours in the 8th annual FlightStats On-Time Service Performance Awards among North American based carriers. The league table of the world’s least punctual carriers is almost entirely comprised of Asian airlines, with Icelandic and Israeli flagship airlines making an appearance too. Click here to read the full list.

Short-haul Lufthansa Group planes to get wifi

The Lufthansa Group is to roll out its FlyNet wifi service on short- and medium-haul planes over the coming months. The new service to allow passengers to get online should start by the end of March, when 20 Lufthansa aircraft will be fitted with wifi. Furthermore, 31 Austrian Airlines planes will receive the capability by the end of April, and 69 Eurowings aircraft will also have wifi by the summer.

Southwest Airlines launches Cincinnati services

Southwest Airlines plans to begin nonstop services to Chicago and Baltimore/Washington from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International airport on June 4, broadening travellers’ choices in a market dominated by Delta Air Lines. The airline also announced that it will add a new nonstop flight between Cleveland and Atlanta and a second daily nonstop between Cleveland and St. Louis.

Hilton opens first Curio property in Middle East

Hilton has opened the first property under its boutique four and five-star Curio collection in the Middle East. AlRayyan Hotel Doha, Curio Collection by Hilton is directly connected to the Mall of Qatar, located close to the Al-Rayyan Sport Club. The hotel’s 201 rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows, over-sized bathrooms and walk-in rain showers. Facilities include a rooftop Latin American restaurant, three outdoor swimming pools, a gym, male and female wellness areas, five meeting rooms and a 300 sqm ballroom with separate entrance.

Ryanair announces nine new Stansted routes

The low-cost carrier will bge adding nine new routes from Stansted this summer. A “growth deal” signed between the airline and MAG will see the introduction of flights to Copenhagen, Naples, Beziers, Cagliari, Clermont, Grenoble, Nice, Nimes and Strasbourg. The expansion brings Ryanair’s network from the Essex airport up to 140 routes, delivering more than 20 million passengers a year.

Qatar Airways launches its forthcoming service to Las Vegas

Qatar Airways has confirmed the launch date for its forthcoming service to Las Vegas. The four times-weekly service will operate with a B777-200LR aircraft, departing Doha on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 0805 and returning at 1455. Qatar Airways is the first Gulf carrier to announce regular scheduled services to Las Vegas, and the route will be the carrier’s 11th US destination.

Cathay Pacific to launch Barcelona-Hong Kong route

Cathay Pacific has announced a new seasonal service between Barcelona and Hong Kong, the first direct non-stop route between the two destinations. The four times-weekly service will launch on July 2 and run until October 27, joining the carrier’s existing route between Hong Kong and Madrid.

Hilton announces nine Mexico hotels

Hilton will be opening a total of nine Mexican properties, ranging across its Hilton Hotels and Resorts, Curio, Garden Inn, Homewood Suites and Hampton brands. The hotels will add nearly 1,200 rooms to the group’s portfolio of 45 existing properties in the country. Hilton will also open its first dual-branded property in Mexico, with the 110-room Hilton Garden Inn and 90-suite Homewood Suites by Hilton Saltillo scheduled to open in late 2019.
